Chapter 05: The Surgical Assistant
Now it is chapter 5 and we hear a story about Capital Sam, one of the other couriers.
Capital Sam has a job at the White Clinic, which is a local chain of “bordellos”. One of the locations is on a boat called the Spire of Ice. (Sea/ocean reference). Capital’s job is to row a young person named Daniel Suwannakintho out to the boat, basically. I’m trying to think of what else. It’s actually kind of a quiet chapter. There’s a question of is either of them going to die before they get to the boat, but Capital Sam handles it all gracefully, and actually gives the kid some good advice about his life before he gets on the boat. He’s like the nice, thoughtful courier. But he talks about sex a lot.
You wonder if Daniel S is going to reappear later in the story. That’s kind of the cool thing about this story? Compared to a regular book, where it’s pretty clear who the important characters are right from the beginning. Here it could basically go any way, all the time.
Chapter 04: The Game is Carrick
Well, OK. A couple things. Last time I was all What the? Because it seemed weird that we got this one chapter about Hugo where nothing really happened. But now this chapter is about Voletta, one of the other couriers, so I think he’s doing this on purpose, giving us more looks at what each of the characters is like. It’s kind of not like a regular book, in that respect. It’s like your’e watching a movie? Except not really, because it won’t just be one person’s (Allison’s) story. So it’s like a book that’s like watching a bunch of movies at once. Does that make sense?
Chapter 4 is called The Game Is Carrick
In this chapter a bunch of little things happen but the main thing is that Voletta goes to a place called The Clutch and plays a game called Carrick with a guy named Blue Eye, who has a sapphire for one eye, and a hand called The Hand. He is JUST A HAND. The game is really complicated and it’s got this whole complicated backstory and the whole thing is just VERY GOOD. GO READ IT NOW. I won’t spoil it by telling you who wins. :) It’s definitely my favorite chapter so far and it gets you interested to read more and see what happens. Because if this is just one little story happening in one corner of this city, what the heck else is going on there, you know? I recommend it. I feel like if you read the first four chapters of this story you will definitely want to keep reading forever.
Chapter 03: What Vultures?
Hi you guys. Here is what happens in Chapter #3! It’s called: What Vultures
http://www.chokeville.com/vulture/vulture_all.html
This is a chapter about Hogwild, one of the other couriers. Not a lot happens in it, to be realistic. He has to have some box handcuffed to his wrist and bring it to a person named Horn. While he’s waiting for Horn two other agents from some other person sidle up to him and threaten him with a deadly spider. He punches them out. It turns out there wasn’t anything in the box and he goes to eat something.

Don’t get me wrong just because not muchhappens, it’s still fun to read. But we learn that Hugo’s a good fighter and that’s about it. Or maybe we’re just supposed to learn that being a courier is a hard job and leads to a lot of trouble. that’s probably it.
There aren’t really that many references to the sea in this chapter either.

Chapter 02: The Wake
Next we get to meet the other couriers! Well we meet 3 of them. There’s a 4th but we don’t know where she is yet. The couriers are Hogwild, Voletta Black, and Capital Sam. (You’ll noticed I’ve already added them to the new Characters page!)
Then we get kind of a little story about each courier.
Hogwild’s story is that he fights a bunch of Chinese in order to give a court summons to Emperor P’eng. Voletta Black’s story is that she teases a guy named Billy into giving her an important phone number. Capital Sam’s one is that he’s on a boat and the captain wants something that Capital Sam swallowed, but then there’s a double and a triple-cross with the crew and it ends up not happening, and Sam kills the captain instead.
Then people are drinking and there’s a hint that Violetta and Hugo had some kind of thing, and then Allison tells a story about when she and Hugo were kids, and she almost drowned but Hugo saved her. And then everyone sings a song, and Allison sings along, which is weird becuase why does she know the words?

So let’s see, first of all, MORE stuff about the sea in this chapter. It’s piling up. First on the boat with Capital Sam, and then the part about the story with Hugo and Allison almost drowning. I didn’t go into details here, but GO READ that part, it’s really good and probably my favorie part of the book so far. Also in that section we get information that’s really interesting: Hugo and Allison have some kind of secret language, and they can communicate with each other without even speaking. Not, like, facial expression. They can have conversations when they’re not looking at each other. Really interesting. I think Hugo and Allison are supposed to be twins, but I don’t know if that’s actually been said out loud yet.
One other thing I wanted to mention was I liked the stories about the other couriers. Because when you meet them you expect you’re going to get their life stories, but you don’t, you kind of just get a scene that lets you know what they’re all about, if that makes sense. I’m not explaining it great. I dont’ think there are a lot of other books that would tell a story like that though.
Let me know if anyone else has any opinions about this chapter! Thanks!
Almost up to 10 followers! Thanks everyone! :0) I got reblogged by the guy! I’ll add the next chapter tonight or this weekend. Let me know if ther’s anything else you want me to do or talk about on the site! But I will mostly keep it confined to the story.
Chapter 01: Welcome to Feddema Global
Ok I am just going to get started up. I will probably make a separate page that talks about who all the characters are, just so they’re all listed in one nice place. There’s a lot, even just in this one chapter! And who knows which ones are the main ones and which ones are important later. I’ll just do my best. But for now there’s is a ton to read and I know if I don’t get started I’ll keep putting it off! So here we go.
Chapter 01 is called Welcome to Feddema Global.
Link.
I’ll just explain what happens. We meet ALLISON HULL. [When we first meet people I’ll write their names IN ALL CAPS so they stand out.] She’s in a hotel and she receives a telegram. The weird thing is no one is supposed to know she’s there. The telegram says that her brother Hugo died. He was working for a company named Feddema global. The telegram is sent by someone named Margaret Feddema. They send her a train ticket so she can go “settle his affairs” whatever that means.
The train takes her to a city called Fort Hook, which is near where she and Hugo grew up. Allison thinks it’s weird that she didn’t know he was dead. When she arrives she makes a phone call to Margaret to say she’s in town. Then Allison suddenly gets kidnapped!
She wakes up in some kind of under water hotel room. A man named ANTHONY comes in and she thinks he is handsome and wants to have sex with him, but he says no thanks. He’s apparently just the butler.
Then she meets MARGARET FEDDEMA. She says that Hugo had to fake his death to work at Feddema, but now unfortunately he’s actually dead, of drowning. He was working as a courier and he died on a boat called the Black Bee, owned by someone named Frank Muto. Not sure if any of that’s important. We also learn that Allison and Hugo were from some kind of family of adventurers? It’s hard to tell, maybe solving mysteries or finding treasure or something. But they certainly come from an interesting background.
Then, it’s actually kind of a funny scene, where Allison explains how she would hurt Margaret and escape. And Margaret is not that impressed. But then Allison TRIES to hurt Margaret and escape! And this time Margaret is impressed and offers Allison Hugo’s old job.
Will she accept????

Some thoughts:
One thing I noticed about this chapter is that “the sea” seems to be very important. Allison has a tattoo of waves. The room is under the ocean. Hugo was afraid of water but he drowned. Just somethign to think about.
Also I think I found one odd typo. Allison says “It’s seven steps the door.” She probably means seven steps TO the door? The interesting thing about the way the writer tells the story is you think maybe that’s an accident or maybe it’s going to be a clue to something later.
Anyways this was a long chapter—not a lot happens, but the author gives a lot of good details. I’m definitely intrigued! Is anyone else reading it have anythign to add?

tumblrbot asked: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT?
hi! I guess, I dont’ know! Popcorn! Actually anything salty!
In the beginning…
So I heard about Fireland on twitter, a guy who everyone said was funny. I didn’t think he was VERY funny but then I was clicking around and suddenly, LMHO I found this Chokeville site!
This woman I used to work with, Cherrie was always talking about it. She worked with Barb and them in Accoutns. She was nice and I never listened at the time, but this book/website/whatever you want to call it looks interesting, so I think I’m going to read it and talk about it here so I can even understand what’s going on. Follow along if you like! This is my first tumblr.
